Get Rid of Cat Pee From Your Memory Foam Mattress

[ad_1]

If you have a pet cat at home, I’m certain you have experienced cat mishaps not once but a lot of times already. But do you absolutely know what to do when your cat pees on your expensive memory foam mattress?

You will need more than just replacing the comforter and the sheets. Here are a few tips you can try to get rid of the stain and odor:

Tip 1: Hydrogen Peroxide and Baking Soda

A warning before using this: it discolors your memory foam. But since you will use a comforter, this should not be such a big issue. Plus, this trick works better in getting rid of the smell and stain than any other method.

Just mix a quarter cup of baking soda and a quart of hydrogen peroxide. You can also add this up to your scented dishwashing liquid and use this to wash the area affected. Spray it first with water and then saturate it with this solution. Let it sit for a few minutes and spray it again with water.

Tip 2: Vinegar And Baking Soda

Vinegar always works well in getting rid of stains and smell. However it may leave a bit of vinegar smell behind so you need the help of baking soda. You need to spray the affected area with water again to remove the pee residues. Mix vinegar with water and spray it on the affected area. This should also kill the germs and bacteria there. Once it dries off, spray it with water and use a sponge to absorb the moisture in the mattress. Afterwards, sprinkle baking soda on it and leave it for a few minutes then vacuum.

Tip 3: Lemon Juice and Vanilla

You can also use lemon juice as an alternative to vinegar. Spray the area affected with lemon juice solution (mixture of water and lemon juice) and let the mattress absorb the solution. Spray it again with water and drop vanilla to get rid of the lemony smell.

Tip 4: Alcohol

The next day after trying one of the tip above, spray on rubbing alcohol on the affected area to disinfect your mattress. This should completely get rid of the unseen horrors in he mattress.

These are some methods that are not too aggressive for your memory foam mattress. Give them a try and you can smell a huge difference. You won’t have to ban your cat from your room anymore.
