Is the Chattam & Wells Mattress the Best Innerspring Mattress You Can Buy?

[ad_1]

Hand on heart one can’t definitely say which is the best brand, however it would be true to say that a Chattam & Wells mattress is one of the best innerspring mattresses you can buy. It is easily as good as other high-end brands like, Restonic, Jamison and Stearns and Foster.

You may not of heard of this company before or know very much about its products – there’s not many mattress reviews of Chattam & Wells – but once you see and lie down on one you’ll appreciate why they’re so highly thought of.

The company has been in business for many years and has never deviated from its original idea of making the finest mattresses money could buy. It doesn’t make mattresses solely made of memory foam, latex or any other ‘new innovative material’, instead it sticks to what it knows and does best; the manufacture of superb innerspring models.

That’s not to say that it never uses new technologies; many of its mattresses do feature latex and visco-elstic components, but the heart of soul of every Chattam & Wells mattress is the coils used for its foundation.

High-quality innerspring mattresses are made using heavy-gauge coils made from tempered steel. Each Chattam & Wells features a 12 3/4 gauge double-knotted offset innerspring unit. Each coil has 6 turns – most other high-end brands use 5.

Thick, innertufted cotton layers are attached to the spring unit with the traditional method of using buttons on either side of the coil. The company doesn’t use this method just because it’s traditional; this technique has proven to stand the test of time and it allows for some pre-compression of the spring unit that gives a more consistent pressure across the springs.

Depending on the model you choose these comfort layers will be comprised of different combinations of cotton, cashmere, latex and memory foam. Each mattress comes with the Chattam edge with some more expensive ones featuring the patented Portrait Frame system. The edging provides more sleep area, better support and a firm sitting edge.

Finally, each mattress is encased in beautiful Belgian Damask jersey knit ticking with each collection having its own regal crown pattern. The corners are fitted with metal guards and the mattress is ventilated by means of brass vents. The embroidered handles have been meticulously sewn so that they will not pull off from the mattress itself.

It’s very hard to find anything bad to say about a Chattam & Wells mattress. The best way to decide if one is right for you is to read as many mattress reviews as you can. Ideally, you should also actually go and lie down on one. While you’re at it, you should try out other quality innerspring brands like Jamison and Stearns and Foster. Pay special attention to the innerspring unit and the comfort layers used and what each manufacturer offers in the way of warranty.
